Rebecca Crawford wife of Col. John Sawyers  Married Jan 20, 1776 in Agusta CO.

Born Feb. 7, 1753 Died Feb. 25, 1841 age 88. Both are buried in Washington Church Cemetery.

on Washington Pike out side of Knoxville , TN.

Rachel Born Oct 26, 1779 Died Sept 18, 1805 age 26.

James Alexander Born Dec. 15, 1781 Died Aug. 24, 1805 age 24.

 Elizabeth   Born May 4, 1784 Died 1864. Buried Howard County , Indiana.

 John Jr. . Born April 9, 1786 Died Oct. 1, 1851.

Nancy Born Sept. 16, 1788 Died ?

 William  Born May 18, 1791 Died July 1867.

Rebecca Born May 7, 1793 Died April 9, 1870.

Ethan Allen Born April 3, 1795 Died about 1818.

 Josiah  Born June 16, 1797 Died Aug. 1845.

In 1785 John and Rebecca moved from Agusta CO, VA. to Bloutville Tenn.

built a Fort ,Sullivan CO. North eastern corner of Tenn. From here they moved to

Corryton , Tenn. Old Emery Rd. built another fort lived in the Fort until 1805 .

Built a two house to replace The Fort.

I Carl Sawyer was at this house in 1994 owned then by Ruby Seals Donahue.

Inside of house was remodeled heavy wood paneling on walls rugs on floor, there was

a clock made from wood from property, a sewing machine , Iv'e never seen another

one like that one.

Jonn owned 1700 acres of land on the Big Flat Creek. Big Flat Creek

near the Grainger county line in the upper edge of Knox County.

The fort , about two miles east of the present of Corryton.

Col John Sawyers helped settle present , Knoxville  Tenn. Fought in

many battles the mian one was Battle of Kings Mountian.
